Introducing Anonyma’s Friday song list

I am introducing a weekly feature that should be useful for mixtapers looking for songs with specific themes, and also for trivia geeks like myself. Once a week, on a Friday, I will publish a list of songs with a particular theme. Over the years I have compiled a number of these lists and if they help others in some way, I think it’s a good thing.
If you want to add to the list or correct errors, you can leave a comment with the titles you want to add or errors you want to correct, and I will update the list. You can also send in suggestions and titles for future lists you would like to see.
I’ll be posting the first list tomorrow.

I owe some of these lists to a delightful Yahoo group I participated in some years ago. It has unfortunately been abandoned by its moderator and no-one posts there any more. Other lists I have compiled from songs in my music collection and from a number of other different sources.

When celebrities can’t leave well enough alone: David Hasselhoff

I will admit that the Hoff can sing. He even has a somewhat successful career in music. I don’t happen to be a fan, but I can’t help but admire the man’s tenacity and determination to be seen and heard, no matter how crap or corny or unintentionally funny the effort.
It’s the video I object to. It’s very ambitious, but ends up being a terrible collection of bad cliches, bad effects and bad editing. I can’t decide whether it’s serious or if it’s meant to be tongue-in-cheek. Either way, the Eskimo outfit was a big mistake. He looks like a very ugly polar bear in it.

Bossy car

The licence plate on a classic Ford Mustang. I have no idea what year it is from, but a friend sent me this photo and a number of others taken at an exhibition of classic cars in Hafnarfjörður, Iceland.

After the weekend

Well, it did rain over the weekend. On Sunday we got the occasional shower, but boy, would I have wanted the Women’s Run to have taken place then, because on Saturday it poured. Continuously. All day long.

The Women’s Run is an annual event where Icelandic women run or walk together for their health. Participants get a commemorative t-shirt and a medal. I saw several dogs wearing the t-shirts, but none was as huge as this one. It was quite friendly and genial, unlike a peke that tried to attack it – the big lug could have inhaled the peke, but merely looked at the little monster with indifference writ large on its huge face.

Lurking car

Some cars seem to have personalities. The Toyota Yaris can’t help being considered a girly car because it looks girly, while a Corvette looks like a guy car because it gives an impression of muscularity. Then there are cars that can’t seem to help looking thuggish. I found this example lurking in the lee of a storage shed:
